Praise God! My time there went from 3-5 days to 10. Thank you for the flowers you sent to the hospital. I would like a rehoming fee of $30 per male but am open to negotiate. I am also currently looking for a home for them and entertaining any offers for their adoption. I want to let everyone see what a great job Chelsea does in her breeding program. The little males are busy trying to sing and develop their songs. Fat, healthy and they have been eating on their own for some time now. They come to this side of the cage and talk to me all the time. I still am so excited I am beside myself after watching these new lives develop. It was so funny at night because Abraham would herd them back to the nest to roost. All while they were raising their young I was watching them close and they remained in good shape too. I have really been enjoying these little birds so much. They have been well taken care of by their parents. They were about half the size as the adults and are now getting bigger than them. Sarah and Abraham now have 3 beautiful healthy fawn babies. I was talking on the phone and looking at my finches when a beautiful fawn baby hopped out of the nest onto a branch. I put some of the clean nesting material Chelsea sent with them, Timothy hay, clean soft hair from my dog (he was shedding like crazy) and nesting hair from some dispensers I bought. Soon they were already kissy and amorous. That’s usually when Sarah came over to share her song too. I have named them Abraham and Sarah since they are my first Zebras.Īfter a few weeks Abraham had his crow perfected and liked to sing to me as I told him what a beautiful song he has. They sit on the branch closest to the desk and talk to me. I have their cage next to my desk in my office while I do some rearranging to get the configuration I want. The little hen does lap flights every day. ![]() They seemed to really enjoy the new cage. The little male tickled me with all the crowing he did and the little hen chimed right in. The little hen’s beak turned orange just like Chelsea said it would. My birds were really active, singing and happy when I brought them home. I chose two unrelated Fawn OB BB birds so they would go on to breed later. Occasionally I have excess in both of these breeds for sale to loving homes.Īll photos on these bird pages were taken by my friend, Julie Hislop. My Finch journey started out when I adopted my first pair of young Zebra Finches from Chelsea TWFA. I also have a few Zebra finches ( Poephila guttata ) and Java Rice Birds ( Padda oryzivora). They make lovely additions with their charming, sweet antics. Occasionally I have some excess birds for sale. The only way to sex them is to see the males singing (and doing their silly, hopping dance). Society finches are considered monomorphic, which means the sexes look identical. ![]() The males have a cute, silly song and constantly build nests. They are very nice birds they get along with all of the other birds and are reliable breeders. ![]() I have some rare mutations as well as the common colors. My main breed is the charming Society Finch (Bengalese). I am also enjoying playing with genetics as I breed them. I have so enjoyed my ever expanding hobby in finches. Thanks to my friend, Pam Mayberry, I found a suitable diversion: finches. A new diversion for me! When I lost my favorite Borzoi (Yankee) in November of 2003, I had to have something to get my mind off of dogs.
